Religious and Cultural Observance s
AACPS will operate on a normal schedule on the follow ing days of major religious or cultural observance:
October 20\,2025: Diwali (No Moon Day)
February 17\, 2026: Lunar Ne w Year
May 27\, 2026: Eid al-Adha Jewish and Muslim religio us observance dates begin at sundown on the evening prior to the dates not ed and conclude at sundown the next evening.
Te sts &\; Examinations
AACPS tests and examina tions (including mandated tests and assessments) shall not be scheduled on any of the religious observances noted in this calendar. Tests and examin ations for a grade will not be administered on the school day following an y of the religious observances noted in this calendar\, unless the observa nce concludes on a Friday or Saturday night. Similarly\, AACPS tests and e xaminations (including mandated tests and assessments) for Evening High Sc hool students shall also not be scheduled on the evening before or the day of evening of a religious observance.
For Rosh Ha shanah\, Yom Kippur\, Eidal-Fitr\, and Eid al-Adha\, no athletics or other school-sponsored extracurricular activities will take place after sundown on the day before the observance or before sundown on the first day of a multi-day religious observance.
Student Absence s
Students absent from school due to a religiou s or cultural observance noted on this calendar will be allowed the option to make up work missed due to that absence. Such absence shall not affect a student’s eligibility for perfect attendance recognition
