 reparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills. CERT is an 
 acronym for Community Emergency Response Team. There are teams organized t
 hroughout the country to aid first responders in the event of disasters.&n
 bsp\; CERT trains people to take care of themselves and then help others i
 n their communities for the first three days following a disaster.&nbsp\; 
 Being ready means having the skills and knowledge to be safe.&nbsp\; The c
 ourse covers a variety of topics\, including disaster preparedness\, fire 
 safety\, disaster medical operations\, victim triage\, light search and re
 scue\, disaster psychology\, documentation and organization\, and terroris
 m/active shooter.&nbsp\; A final disaster simulation/exam will be held whe
 re those trained use the skills they have learned.&nbsp\; There are consta
 nt ongoing&nbsp\;opportunities to practice learned skills\, so you&nbsp\;<
 span>are able to be effective</span>&nbsp\;in a real response\,&nbsp\;larg
