In th is session\, participants will explore the resources developed by the KY B ehavior Task Group. The FBA is a problem-solving process for any general o r special education student with persistent\, severe\, or complex behavior challenges. This problem-solving process involves identifying clear\, pre dictive relationships between events in a person’s environment and occur rences of an observable target behavior. BIP is a plan that is based on th e results of a functional behavioral assessment (FBA) and\, at a minimum\, includes a description of the problem behavior\, global and specific hypo theses as to why the problem behavior occurs and intervention strategies t hat include positive behavioral supports and services to address the behav ior. Participants will explore all the steps in FBA/BIP.
Para Power Day 2 is a hands-on training that gives par aprofessionals practical tools to better support students—immediately. W ith limited access to role-specific training due to substitute shortages\, MSD classrooms can send one para while classroom teams work together to p rovide coverage. Power Days are offered four times throughout the year\, g iving teams the opportunity to train all paraprofessionals by sending a di fferent staff member each time. Sessions will be held 9/30\, 11/10\, 1/20\ , and 2/24\, from 9:30–2:30 (with a 1-hour lunch)\, and focus on behavio r support\, independence\, communication\, and engagement.

Teams will learn how to use the ALCOT (Autism and Low Incidence Classroom Observatio n Tool) to foster growth in classrooms serving students with ASD. For this first session\, the author of the ALCOT\, Dr. Robert Pennington from Univ ersity of Kentucky\, will provide an overview of the tool to kick off our ASD Cadre.
